13th - 22nd July Zennor to Porthallow HALFWAY… 315 miles!!
This part of the walk was quite a challenge as apart from the usual interesting ‘footpaths’ the July weather was rather on the hot side!
A fair bit of the walk to Sennen Cove was extremely rocky but the views were amazing and plenty of beautiful old tin mines to see.
A swim in the sea at Portheras Cove and again at Sennen Cove was extremely welcome!
Lands End was very busy and now, unless you pay the official photographer, you can’t take your photo right next to the sign, so folk were taking their selfies just outside the ropes!
On round towards Penzance.. ‘strenuous’ walking a lot of the way but again stunning views.. Very disappointed that we couldn't get inside the Minack Theatre, all closed up unless you're attending a performance.
Beautiful Coves at Porthcurno and Lamorna..
Exciting photo opportunities at Mousehole as the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall were visiting, what a palava that caused!.. Easy walking around Newlyn and Penzance to Marazion and the stunning St Michael’s Mount.. Wow it was hot that day and not a breath of wind!
Praa Sands, Porthleven, Mullion Cove, seals swimming around in the sea and a very nice cafe at Lizard Point, the church on the beach at Church Cove, blackcurrant ice cream at Cadgwith and excellent coffee at Coverack just a few of many highlights.. Oh and masses of wild flowers and butterflies.. Not to mention the cattle we passed, who seem to like to congregate on footpaths!
This stage of the walk was probably the most challenging due to the heat and because of this we didn't get as far as we had planned (Falmouth) but were very happy to reach the halfway marker at Porthallow!
We set off again on Saturday 3rd September to hopefully reach Salcombe!
