These events have all been organised in aid of The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust and have raised a considerable amount of money for the trust.

The trust is extremely grateful to the many performers and helpers who have given freely of their time.

Whitland Male voice choir featuring soloist Chloé Underwood

Saturday 30th September 2023.

The audience came from far and wide across the country and enjoyed a wonderful evening with a variety of music covering all musical eras.

Over 50 Welshman from the Whitland Male voice choir in Wales came and sang at Pip and Jim’s church in Cheltenham, bringing a variety of songs with them. They ranged from traditional Welsh hymns to music from Les Misérables, all sung with class and leaving every single audience member with a smile of their face. Chloé Underwood’s performance complemented the choir brilliantly and gave the audience insights into several operatic arias. With donations made from a very generous audience the concert raised over £800 for The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust.

‘Abberley Golden Oldies’ an evening of great music, food and wine at Abberley Hall School.

Saturday 11th March 2023.

Several generations of old Abberlonians, their teachers, relatives and friends were brought together to celebrate the magic of music and shared experiences. Old friendships were renewed and new ones formed.

A champagne reception was followed by a well-rounded programme of music delivered by a dozen of Martin’s former pupils. At the time of the event, four were at secondary school, four at University and four were post graduate. Performances ranged from chilled out jazz guitar to English, French and American pieces for voice, flute, cello and piano.

Two of the pieces were composed by the former students.

The happy atmosphere continued during the dinner that followed, with cheese, speeches and a raffle in front of the open fire in the front hall.

The evening highlighted the power of music to bring people together whilst celebrating Martin’s life and building on his legacy by raising funds for The Martin Schellenberg Music Trust.

TMSMT is indebted to Abberley School for the use of its facilities, to the many helpers and to Sophie & Chloe Underwood for organising such a wonderful evening.
